The Saftey Talk
Everyday on the river we go over a comprehensive saftey briefing with the rafters to prepare everyone for the worst possible scenario. It's kind of scary but very thorough and you feel safer know that all the bases are covered.

The Upper Canyon
The Upper Canyon starts at the western edge of Yoho National Park and ends at our Riverside BBQ Lunch Spot. It is an 11 KM stretch starting with some fun class 2 whitewater then a scenic float to our Lunch Spot. If time allows the trip might stop to hike to a secret waterfall! Meet Simon, one of our Raft Guides!
Simon is from New Zealand and has worked on many rivers in New Zealand, Austrailia, and Costa Rica. Simon is also a dedicated whitewater kayaker and has paddled many Class 5 and 6 rivers all over the world. When you see Simon at the river say "How ya going"!

The Middle Canyon
The Middle Canyon starts at our BBQ Lunch Spot and Ends at the Kicking Horse Rest Area. It is 11 KM of Class 1 to Class 4+ Whitewater including a 1 KM section of continuous Class 4+ Whitewater called Portage/Shotgun. The Kicking Horse River Challenge, Kicking Horse Classic , Ultimate Whitewater, and Afternoon Whitewater trips all run the Middle Canyon. Visit reservations.alpinerafting.com to book your trip today!
PORTAGE/SHOTGUN (4)
This 950 metre section is a classic example of a Glacier fed Class 4 Run ! The beginning of the rapid is a glassy chute with a rapid called "Terminator" to the left. This smooth lead-up is no match for what's to come: A Class 4 Boulder field with overhead waves. Just when you think the fun is going to stop, the river bends and brings us to Shotgun: the crux maneuver of the Portage & Shotgun rapids. Shotgun is an underwater rock ledge which forms a fantastic pour over, giving you the sensation of dropping and getting soaked all in one!
